A National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Rofiat Lawal, who was recently kidnapped along the Benin-Ore Expressway, has narrated her harrowing experience in the hands of her abductors after regaining freedom.
Lawal, who was released on Saturday after her family paid a ransom of ₦1.1 million, revealed in a viral Facebook video that the kidnappers stripped her of all belongings, including her NYSC uniform.
“They took everything from me, even my NYSC khaki and cap. One of them wore my uniform right in front of me,” she recounted.
According to her, the kidnappers forced them to trek through the forest every night during her four-day captivity.
“When we entered the bush, they first searched all our bodies. They collected our phones and money. Those market women were going to buy fish at the market. They collected their money—₦700,000, ₦1.2 million, ₦600,000—but I had only ₦15,000, so they took that along with my phone,” she said.
Lawal also disclosed that while she was not tortured as severely as some older women who were abducted with her, she was slapped multiple times.
