The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has resigned from his position, barely four months after unveiling the party’s blueprint to reclaim Osun and Oyo States from the opposition.

Ganduje, a former Governor of Kano State, tendered his resignation with immediate effect, citing health concerns as his reason for stepping down. The development comes amid reports of financial impropriety trailing the embattled party leader.

In February, Ganduje had boldly declared the APC’s plan to oust the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from power in Oyo and Osun, both South West states under President Bola Tinubu’s political stronghold. He described the initiative as a move to achieve “political homogeneity” for the APC in the region.

“Our blueprint for South West geo-political zone for 2027 is tagged political homogeneity,” Ganduje had said during the defection of Dr. (Colonel) Gbenga Adegbola (rtd) to the party.

“We will work hard and, with the help of Allah and the people of the state, Oyo will be an APC state in 2027. In Sha Allahu, Osun will also be an APC state.”
