National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu has criticized the Canadian government for denying visas to Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, and other senior military officers, calling it disrespectful and unacceptable.
Speaking on Thursday at the maiden annual lecture of the National Association of the Institute for Security Studies (AANISS) in Abuja, Ribadu expressed outrage over the development, stating: “They can go to hell.”
General Musa had earlier narrated how he and some top military officials were invited for an official event in Canada to honour war veterans but were denied visas.
“Every disappointment is a blessing. Yesterday, I was meant to be in Canada for an event to honour our veterans, those injured in battles. We were invited with our team, but while half of us were granted visas, the other half was denied. It’s very disappointing,” Musa lamented.
Reacting to Musa’s comments, Ribadu commended the CDS for openly addressing the issue.
“Thank you for the courage to say Canada denied you visas. They can go to hell,” he declared. “Even though it’s painful and disrespectful, we are a peaceful and strong nation. This is yet another reason to work hard to fix our country.”
The NSA also praised the CDS for his leadership in the fight against insecurity, emphasizing that security agencies across the country are working together to tackle national threats.
