Ogun State’s Community Social Orientation and Safety Corps, So-Safe Corps, has arrested a 27-year-old man, Emmanuel Awahnse, also known as Ariwo Oja, in connection with a recent goat theft in Ipokia Local Government Area.
According to a press statement by the State Commander, (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, and released by the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi, the suspect was apprehended on February 19, 2026, at a church where he was celebrating the naming ceremony of his child.
Dr. Ganzallo explained that on February 6, officers attached to Ifonyintedo Division, led by Divisional Officer CSC Adeisa Zacheous, spotted the suspect and an accomplice around 5 a.m. riding a motorcycle and carrying a black bag along Madoga, Ita-Ege road. When the suspects realized they were seen, they attempted to flee, abandoning the bag and motorcycle. Upon inspection, the bag was found to contain three stolen goats.
Following the incident, Ipokia Area Commander ACC Aliu Yusuf directed heightened surveillance to track the suspects at large. This led to Emmanuel Awahnse’s arrest, during which he confessed to stealing the goats and identified his accomplice as Ketonsu, also known as Ijagun.
The suspect, along with the recovered goats, has been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Idiroko Division, for further investigation and prosecution.
