The Yobe State Hisbah Commission has destroyed 51 cartons of alcoholic beverages, in what the agency described as a bold step towards promoting moral conduct and societal peace in the state.
The destruction exercise was carried out in accordance with the Islamic principles and state laws which prohibit the sale, consumption, and possession of alcohol in Yobe.
Speaking after the event, the Executive Chairman of the Yobe State Hisbah Commission, Dr. Yahuza Abubakar, said the move aligns with the Commission’s responsibility to ensure decency and safeguard the values of the society.
“This action is part of our ongoing efforts to cleanse the society of harmful substances. Alcohol consumption is not only harmful to public health but also disrupts social order,” Dr. Abubakar stated.
He added that the Commission remains firm in its mission to promote justice and peaceful coexistence, while also urging residents to support the enforcement of laws aimed at maintaining discipline and order.
“We call on members of the public to partner with us by reporting activities that go against our moral code. Together, we can build a community where morality thrives,” he said.
