The Kano State Government has warned supporters of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf against making insulting or inflammatory remarks about the leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, saying such actions will attract disciplinary sanctions.

The warning was issued on Saturday by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House Kano, Bature Tofa, during the distribution of motorcycles to residents at the Open Space Theatre within the Government House.

Tofa said the government would not tolerate acts of indiscipline or disrespect directed at Kwankwaso, describing him as a political leader whose role and contributions to Kano politics must be respected, regardless of prevailing political developments.

“We will not accept indiscipline or insults against the leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. Anybody who engages in such behaviour will face the consequences. We will not accept it,” he said.

He urged supporters of the governor to exercise restraint and maturity, particularly amid heightened political tension in the state following recent political realignments.

According to him, the state government remains committed to maintaining peace and unity among its supporters, stressing that political disagreements should not degenerate into personal attacks or abusive conduct.

Tofa also reminded party members that discipline and respect for leadership were essential for political stability and effective governance in Kano State.

The warning comes amid reactions to Governor Yusuf’s recent resignation from the New Nigeria Peoples Party, a development that has generated mixed responses within the Kwankwasiyya Movement and among residents of the state.

Kwankwaso had earlier reaffirmed his commitment to his political ideals, insisting that he would not compromise his principles for personal gain.

“I am not for sale. Our political convictions keep me grounded. If I were in it for personal gain, I would have taken the easy route and you would be looking for me elsewhere, not in this place,” Kwankwaso said.

He added that the Kwankwasiyya Movement was sustained by shared values rather than material incentives, noting that its strength lay in collective vision and discipline.
