The Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation has called for stronger support and sustained commitment toward the empowerment of women as the world commemorates the 2026 International Women’s Day.
In a statement issued on Sunday to mark the global celebration, the Global President of the Foundation, Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, said the day offers an opportunity to recognise the strength, resilience, and invaluable contributions of women to families, communities, and national development.
Wahab noted that the Foundation remains committed to advancing initiatives that empower women through advocacy, education, and community-based programmes designed to promote equality, dignity, and opportunities for women and girls.
According to him, empowering women is essential to building stronger families, sustainable communities, and a more inclusive society.
He said, “The Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation proudly joins the global community in celebrating the remarkable roles women play in shaping families, communities, and the nation. Their resilience and dedication continue to inspire positive change in society.”
The statement also urged stakeholders across different sectors to intensify efforts toward protecting the rights of women and promoting gender equality.
“We call on government institutions, civil society organisations, faith-based bodies, and community leaders to continue supporting policies and programmes that safeguard the rights of women and create enabling environments where they can thrive,” Wahab added.
He further assured that the Foundation would remain steadfast in championing initiatives aimed at uplifting women and inspiring the next generation of female leaders.
