The Lagos State Government has awarded a cash prize of N10 million to Miss Isioma Sybil Nwosu, the best graduating student of Lagos State University (LASU) for the 2023/2024 academic session.

Miss Nwosu, a first-class graduate from the Department of Biochemistry, received the award during a brief ceremony held at the office of the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Tolani Sule, at the Secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja.

Presenting the cheque, Hon. Sule said the gesture reflects Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration’s unwavering commitment to encouraging academic excellence and scholarship in tertiary institutions across the state.

He noted that the government remains deliberate in rewarding hard work and promoting merit, regardless of students’ origin. “This administration supports scholarship and research while ensuring that every deserving student, indigene or not, is duly recognised,” Sule said.

The Commissioner urged Miss Nwosu to remain a worthy ambassador of LASU and Lagos State by inspiring other students through her excellence and commitment.

In her remarks, Miss Nwosu, who hails from Aniocha in Delta State, expressed profound gratitude to the Lagos State Government for the recognition and generous reward. She was accompanied by her mother, Miss Isioma Nwosu.

“I am deeply grateful to His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for this honour. I intend to invest this award wisely in pursuit of further academic and professional development,” she said.

She described Lagos as a land of opportunity and inclusiveness, urging fellow students to make the most of the support provided by the government through academic commitment.
