The Ward Development Committee, Ogun State Council, has commended the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland for his leadership while urging residents to sustain unity and peaceful coexistence as the Egba people commemorate the 39th Lisabi Day Festival.
In a press release issued on Wednesday and signed by the State Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, the group described the annual celebration as a symbol of courage, resilience, and cultural pride deeply rooted in the history of Egbaland.
The Council noted that Lisabi Day remains a significant event that reflects the heroic legacy of Lisabi Agbongbo Akala, whose contributions to the liberation and unity of the Egba people continue to inspire generations.
Wahab said, “This historic celebration stands as a powerful reminder of the courage, unity, and enduring legacy of Lisabi Agbongbo Akala, whose heroic contributions continue to inspire generations of Egba sons and daughters.”
He added that beyond its cultural importance, the festival plays a vital role in strengthening communal ties and promoting development across the region.
“The festival not only preserves the rich cultural heritage of Egbaland but also strengthens communal bonds, promotes the wellbeing and health of the people, and advances peace, progress, and development,” he stated.
The WDC chairman further praised the Alake for his commitment to unity and socio-economic growth, describing his leadership as a stabilising force within the state.
“We commend the Alake for his exemplary leadership, commitment to cultural preservation, and continuous efforts toward fostering unity and socio-economic growth within Egbaland and beyond,” Wahab said.
Reaffirming its role in grassroots development, the Council pledged continued support for initiatives that uplift communities and promote sustainable growth.
“As stakeholders in grassroots and community development, we remain committed to supporting initiatives that empower communities, promote cultural values, enhance public health, and advance sustainable development across Ogun State,” he added.
The Council also offered prayers for the monarch, wishing him long life, sound health, and wisdom, while expressing hope for sustained peace and prosperity in Egbaland.
