A serious lone accident occurred Friday evening at the Sapon Bridge axis in Abeokuta, inbound the General Hospital Ijaye, causing partial disruption to vehicular movement along the route.
The incident, which took place around 5:50pm on Friday, damaged parts of the bridge railings. While the exact cause of the accident was yet to be determined, reports confirmed that all victims involved had already been rescued and taken to the General Hospital, Ijaye for urgent medical attention before the arrival of authorities.
Operatives of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Abeokuta Area Command, swiftly arrived at the scene to manage the situation. Officers were strategically deployed to control traffic flow and ensure safety of road users.
According to a preliminary report signed by OGUNDIMU A.I., who reported for the Abeokuta Area Command and its environs, further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the accident.
The TRACE command confirmed that Papa Oscar, the appropriate investigative unit, had been contacted to further probe the incident. A towing vehicle was also summoned to evacuate the affected vehicle and restore full access on the route.
Commuters plying the Sapon–Ijaye axis are advised to remain patient while traffic is being managed and normalcy gradually returns to the area.
