Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Alhaji Yekini Adeojo, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Seriki Musulumi of Yorubaland.
In a condolence message issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Makinde described Adeojo’s death as “the end of a glorious political era,” noting that the late politician was “one of the last great men standing in Oyo State’s political, community, and religious leadership.”
The governor extended his sympathies to the bereaved family and the PDP community in Oyo State. “I condole with the family of Alhaji Adeojo, the PDP in Oyo State, and the good people of the state over the demise of a man most of us grew up to know as an icon and patriot,” he said.
Reflecting on Adeojo’s contributions, Makinde acknowledged his long-standing influence in the state’s political landscape. “His death will leave a vacuum in our great state and Nigeria. Baba gave his best in serving our state and nation, and he will be greatly missed,” he added.
The governor prayed for the repose of Adeojo’s soul, saying, “It is my prayer that God will grant him Aljanah Firdaus and uphold the family he left behind.”
Adeojo, who was the PDP governorship candidate in the 1999 election, remained a significant figure in Oyo politics for decades.
