NNPC Retail Limited has dismissed a pump attendant at one of its filling stations in Ikorodu, Lagos, following a viral video that showed the staff attempting to defraud a customer during a fuel purchase.
The company, in a statement issued on Friday, confirmed that it had launched an investigation immediately after the video surfaced online. The probe revealed that the incident occurred at a licensed NNPC Retail station in Ikorodu.
“NNPC Retail Limited wishes to state categorically that such behaviour is unacceptable and does not reflect the company’s commitment to integrity, transparency, and exceptional customer service,” the statement read.
As part of disciplinary actions taken in line with its internal sanction grid, NNPC Retail said the attendant involved had been disengaged from service. It also announced the suspension of the Station Manager and a formal warning letter issued to the Dealer in charge of the outlet.
The company expressed appreciation to the public for their vigilance and encouraged customers to always report suspicious activities at any of its stations through customer service contacts displayed at its outlets.
“NNPC Retail assures all customers of its continued strict enforcement of compliance with its operational standards across its network of filling stations,” the statement added.
The company reiterated its commitment to customer satisfaction and urged the public not to lose trust in its service quality, promising swift action against any misconduct observed in its operations.
