The Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa, Alayeluwa Oba Dr. Akeem KING Benjamin Olusayo Ogungbangbe, on Sunday joined Muslim faithful in the town to celebrate the Eid-El-Kabir festival, in a powerful show of unity and religious tolerance.
His presence at the Eid prayer ground was described by residents as a symbolic gesture of solidarity and a reaffirmation of peaceful coexistence among the people of Iloko-Ijesa, regardless of religious or ethnic affiliations.
Addressing the community afterward from his palace, the royal father emphasized the values of compassion, mutual respect, and communal love. “Let us be our brother’s keeper. In times like these, we must embrace one another with love and support. That is how we can continue to thrive as a peaceful and prosperous people,” Oba Ogungbangbe said.
He went further to urge political actors in the town to put the interest of Iloko-Ijesa above political rivalry, party lines, or personal ambition. “The growth and development of Iloko-Ijesa must remain our top priority. Political differences should not divide us. Instead, we must unite and build together,” he stated.
The monarch also encouraged the people of Iloko-Ijesa to support their sons and daughters who are aspiring for political office, irrespective of their political leanings. According to him, what matters most is the genuine intent to serve and contribute to the progress of the town.
“Whether they belong to your party or not, if they are sons or daughters of Iloko-Ijesa, they deserve our backing. Supporting our own will strengthen us and bring about the progress we all desire,” Oba Ogungbangbe added.
