Former Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his victory in the Saturday, August 15, 2026, governorship election.
Obaseki described Adeleke’s victory as decisive, saying it reflected the choice of the people of Osun State to entrust the governor with another four-year mandate.
In a congratulatory message, the former governor said the outcome of the election also demonstrated the futility of what he described as anti-democratic forces deployed by desperate politicians to subvert the will of the people.
He said the victory had sent a strong message to Nigerians that citizens, when united by courage, determination and a common purpose, could defend their democratic choices and compel political leaders to act in the interest of the people.
According to Obaseki, his own political experience has shown that a hard-fought election ultimately decided by the wishes and resolve of the electorate should serve as a reminder to public office holders that their loyalty must remain with the people.
He said such loyalty should not be diverted to the interests of privileged individuals who benefit from access to political power.
Obaseki further congratulated Adeleke on what he described as a well-deserved victory, wishing him a successful second term in office.
He expressed confidence that the Osun governor would continue to focus on the development of the state and the welfare and aspirations of its people.
“I therefore heartily congratulate you, Your Excellency, on this well-deserved victory and wish you a highly successful second term in office,” Obaseki said.
“I am confident that you will continue to dedicate yourself to the development of Osun State and the advancement of the welfare and aspirations of its people.”
