In a major move to reposition itself for relevance and growth, the Odu’a Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ODUACCIMA) has developed a five-year strategic action plan aimed at strengthening its operations, deepening member value, and increasing its regional influence in commerce and policy advocacy.

The plan was the outcome of a three-day organisational retreat held in Ibadan, Oyo State, from Tuesday, June 11 to Friday, June 13, 2025.

The retreat brought together the Chamber’s executive members and development experts who worked collectively to redefine the vision and chart a focused direction for the body.

Speaking at the end of the session, ODUACCIMA President, Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye, described the retreat as timely and transformative.

“This is not just a document. It is a commitment. We came together to rethink our identity and sharpen our purpose. What we have now is a clear plan of action to guide us over the next five years,” he said.

The retreat featured sessions facilitated by Dr. Olujide and Mr. Ifeoluwa Adesanya, who guided participants through conversations on identity, vision alignment, strategic thinking, and a thorough assessment of the Chamber’s strengths and challenges.

These sessions laid the groundwork for the development of measurable goals and realistic strategies.

Former President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Mrs. Toki Mabogunje, also addressed the executives, stressing the importance of good governance in chamber operations.

According to her, “Without strong structures and accountability, any strategy will collapse. Governance is the anchor of long-term success.”

On his part, Director General of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Mr. Sola Obadimu, who spoke on resource mobilisation, urged ODUACCIMA to build partnerships and pursue sustainable funding.

He noted, “Chambers must learn to attract value by offering value. Resource mobilisation is not only about money, it’s about relationships.”

The retreat ended with a review of the draft plan, incorporating insights from all sessions. The Chamber’s executives departed with renewed energy to implement the strategies and reposition ODUACCIMA as a key player in regional economic development.

Alhaji Olaleye added, “We are leaving Ibadan not just with ideas, but with direction. ODUACCIMA is ready to lead, serve, and grow.”
