The family of late veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has announced August 31, 2026, for the eighth-day Fidau prayer in honour of the deceased.
Ogogo, who died at the age of 66 on Sunday, August 23, was buried in Ilaro, Ogun State, on Monday, August 24, according to Islamic rites.
The announcement was made by veteran actor, Jide Kosoko, on behalf of the family, in a statement shared on Wednesday.
According to Kosoko, the Fidau prayer will take place in Ilaro, where the family has appealed to friends, colleagues, fans and well-wishers to join them in praying for the peaceful repose of the late actor.
The family also announced an Artists’ Day to honour Ogogo 40 days after his burial. The event will be held at the Pavilion Hall, Ilaro.
Kosoko said the programme would feature performances by actors, musicians, comedians, singers and other entertainers as part of efforts to celebrate Ogogo’s life and contribution to the entertainment industry.
He disclosed that the Artists’ Day would be coordinated by the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria, TAMPAN.
The family expressed appreciation to colleagues, friends, associates and fans who attended Ogogo’s burial, describing their presence as a demonstration of the love and respect they had for the late actor.
Ogogo began his acting career in the early 1980s and became one of the prominent figures in Yoruba-language cinema, contributing significantly to the growth of the Nigerian film industry as an actor, producer and filmmaker.
His death has continued to attract tributes from colleagues and admirers across the entertainment industry.
