The consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State for the 2027 general election, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has assured party members and residents of the state that he would run an inclusive administration if elected governor.
Adeola gave the assurance on Thursday shortly after participating in the APC governorship primary election at Pahayi, Ilaro Ward 2, where he commended party faithful for the peaceful conduct of the exercise across the state.
The senator said the orderly nature of the direct primary reflected the unity, cohesion and internal democracy within the ruling party.
He also expressed delight over the turnout of party members during the exercise, describing it as a strong indication that the APC remained formidable ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Adeola pledged not to disappoint party members if elected governor, promising to sustain the developmental strides of the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
According to him, his administration would operate an open-door policy and ensure that no group or interest was sidelined in governance.
“I want to assure you that I will run inclusive governance and carry everyone along. It will be a government that will not leave any group or interest out,” he said.
The senator also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Dapo Abiodun for sustaining internal democracy within the party.
He dismissed claims that some aspirants were unhappy over his emergence as the consensus governorship candidate, insisting that his candidature was a product of consultations and agreement among stakeholders across the three senatorial districts of the state.
“I am not aware of aggrieved aspirants against my emergence as the governorship consensus candidate of our dear party.
“The decision to present me as the consensus candidate was not foisted on the party. Rather, it was as a result of far-reaching consultation and agreement among stakeholders and leaders of the party across the three senatorial districts of the state,” Adeola stated.
He added that no aspirant was cheated or disenfranchised during the process, stressing that all party leaders were carried along before the consensus arrangement was adopted.
Adeola disclosed that he had already met with other aspirants and expressed confidence that members of the party would work together for the progress of Ogun State.
The senator polled 3,023 votes at Pahayi Ilaro Ward 2 before proceeding to monitor the conduct of the exercise in Ilaro Ward 2 and Sabo Ward 3.
