The Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has pledged to sustain peaceful political transition and consensus building in Ogun State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Adeola’s position was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by his Media Adviser, High Chief Kayode Odunaro, following his affirmation as the All Progressives Congress consensus governorship candidate during the APC Ogun Central Senatorial District Stakeholders and Strategic Meeting.

Speaking during the event, Adeola commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for what he described as laudable contributions to the socio economic and political development of the state, promising to build on the administration’s achievements if elected governor in 2027.

The lawmaker, who chairs the Senate Committee on Appropriations, said he would also ensure rancour free political engagements across the state.

“I am very conscious of the honour done to me with my historic emergence as the consensus candidate of the ruling party in our dear state. I will not take it for granted and will work assiduously to sustain it in the years ahead,” he said.

Adeola noted that his first endorsement as APC consensus candidate came from Ogun Central leaders and caucus members, adding that the latest affirmation in the district of his maternal origin was significant to him.

He further pledged to embark on a thank you tour across the 74 wards in Ogun Central after the party’s primary election.

Earlier, Governor Abiodun recounted the statewide endorsement of Adeola as the APC consensus governorship candidate and his unveiling in Ogun East and Ogun West, noting that Ogun Central was only taking its turn in affirming the party’s choice ahead of the election.

The governor also presented the incumbent Senator representing Ogun Central, Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, as the consensus senatorial candidate for the district, describing him as a loyal and hardworking party member.

Abiodun urged party faithful and residents of the state to continue supporting President Bola Tinubu, citing the President’s support for Ogun State and his reform agenda. He added that the achievements of his administration in the last seven years had positioned Ogun as the fastest growing economy among states in Nigeria.

Dignitaries at the event included the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele; former Deputy Governor, Prince Segun Adesegun; Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Daisi Elemide; members of the House of Representatives, Hon. Olumide Osoba and Hon. Kunle Isiaka, who is the Deputy Chief Whip; Hon.
