The Ogun State House of Assembly has approved the State Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) for 2026 to 2028, laying the groundwork for the preparation of the 2026 fiscal budget.
The approval followed the presentation of the report by the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, chaired by Hon. Musefiu Lamidi, during plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide.
Lamidi, while presenting the report, explained that the framework captured the financial projections for the next three years, covering allocations for personnel, overhead, and capital expenditures across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
After sectoral consideration, the report was adopted through a motion moved by Hon. Lamidi, seconded by Hon. Wahab Haruna, and supported by the entire House through a voice vote.
The Majority Leader, Hon. Yusuf Sheriff, thereafter moved the motion for final approval, seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Lukman Adeleye.
Speaker Elemide directed the Clerk and Head of Legislative Service to transmit the Assembly’s resolution to Governor Dapo Abiodun for implementation, noting that early approval would allow timely preparation of the 2026 State Budget and subsequent fiscal years.
In a related development, the Speaker announced Hon. Dickson Awolaja as the new Deputy Minority Leader, replacing Hon. Lukmon Atobatele, while Hon. Waliu Owode now assumes the position of Deputy Minority Whip.
