The Ogun State House of Assembly will on Wednesday, 2nd July, 2025, screen the nominees for the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) sent by Governor Dapo Abiodun for confirmation.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, announced this during plenary at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, after reading the governor’s correspondence containing the list of nominees.

According to the Speaker, the nominees include Hon. Idede Joshua, Barrister Femi Odufowokan, Hon. Isiaka Aderounmu, Rt. Hon. Akeem Balogun, Mrs. Kemi Adeogun, Hon. Wale Adeogun, Hon. Waheed Ogundele, Mr. Stephen Kolawole Odusanya, and Hon. Moroof Paramole.

“All the nominees are expected to submit thirty copies each of their curriculum vitae and other relevant credentials to the Office of the Clerk/Head of Legislative Service before 9:00 am tomorrow, Wednesday, 2nd July, 2025,” Elemide stated.

Meanwhile, the Assembly also entertained two petitions on community-related issues.

The Majority Leader, Hon. Yusuf Sherrif, presented a petition from residents of Igbala One CDA in Sango-Ota, who accused the Managing Director of Intercontinental Distilleries and owner of Solmudia Nigeria Enterprises, Mr. Patrick Anegbe, of blocking the only access road and waterway in the area with a fence.

Sherrif explained that the development had worsened flooding and caused disruptions for residents. “The community is pleading with the Assembly to intervene and restore their access to the road and drainage system,” he added.

Similarly, Hon. Waliu Owode, representing Ijebu-East State Constituency, laid a petition from some residents against one Mr. AbdulGaniu Quadri, who was accused of threatening to sell land in Owu-Ijebu and allegedly encroaching on lands belonging to residents of Tokunmaga, Tojoro, and Oke Mene communities.

The Speaker assured that the Assembly would look into the petitions in line with legislative procedures.
