The Ogun State Government has restated its dedication to improving the welfare of its public servants, emphasizing that the productivity and growth of the state are deeply rooted in the well-being of its workforce.

The State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, gave the assurance during Jumat prayers held at the Secretariat Mosque in Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, as part of the activities marking the 2025 Public Service Week.

Salako-Oyedele, speaking on behalf of Governor Dapo Abiodun, praised the unwavering support and dedication of civil servants over the last six years, describing their contribution as essential to the success of the administration’s agenda.

“Our Building Our Future agenda has been delivered with your support, insight, goodwill, perseverance, and day-to-day dedication,” she said.

“Without your hard work and commitment, this administration wouldn’t have been able to deliver on its mandate to the people of Ogun State.”

The Deputy Governor added, “I want to thank you for your prayers and support. I can assure you that we will continue to do our best for Ogun State public service.”

“The legacy we intend to leave behind is one of a government that is committed to the integrity and welfare of the Ogun State Civil Service. We want Ogun to be a reference point for how to make governance work and how to build the best civil service in the country.”

Salako-Oyedele described the Public Service Week as an opportunity to appreciate civil servants and reflect on their crucial role in governance.

“There is no Ogun State Government without Ogun State public servants,” she said.

“Your support since the inception of this administration in 2019 has been invaluable.”

The Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, while congratulating the workforce, particularly the Muslim community, commended their peaceful coexistence with colleagues of other faiths. He said the Public Service Week was a time to take stock and map out future goals.

“As the engine room of government, a lot is expected of us. Let’s continue to support the government with our efforts and cooperation,” he said.

Onasanya also expressed gratitude to the Dapo Abiodun-led administration for prioritizing workers’ welfare through initiatives such as timely payment of salaries, allowances, pensions, leave bonuses, employment drives, and the introduction of a two-day work break to ease workload pressures.

In her brief remarks, Hon. Justice Basirat Adebowale congratulated civil servants on the occasion and urged them to remain faithful to their duties and to the principles of their faith.

“Let the tenets of Islam guide your actions,” she advised. “Be diligent and committed to improving the public service.”

Earlier, in a welcome address, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Alhaja Mariam Oloko, encouraged civil servants to remain loyal and purposeful in their duties.

“Work with sincerity, and may Almighty Allah spare our lives to witness the next Civil Service Week,” she prayed.
