The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, has commended women for their vital roles in shaping society, describing them as the backbone of family and national development.
He emphasized their influence in molding future generations and their contributions to societal progress.
Elemide made these remarks while receiving the women’s wing of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ogun State Chapter, led by Comrade Omolara Olaiya.
The delegation visited the Assembly Complex in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, as part of activities marking the 2025 International Women’s Day.
The Speaker acknowledged the sacrifices and steadfast commitment of women to family and community building, stressing that the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun had remained committed to gender-sensitive policies.
“The Prince Dapo Abiodun-led government continues to prioritize issues affecting women, ensuring they receive the necessary attention and support,” he stated.
He further assured the delegation that the Assembly, under his leadership, would sustain its support for women’s welfare and protection through relevant legislative measures.
“We will continue to champion laws that promote the well-being and rights of women in Ogun State,” Elemide added.
In her remarks, Comrade Olaiya expressed appreciation for the Assembly’s consistent support for women, urging more collaboration on policies and initiatives that would further advance the interests of women across the state.
