Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Comrade Tunde Oladunjoye, describing him as a loyal aide, a fearless spokesman, and a staunch defender of government policies and programmes until his last breath.

Speaking on Sunday at the Fidau prayer held in honour of the late Oladunjoye at St. John Community Primary School, Ijebu Itele, Abiodun recalled the pivotal role Oladunjoye played in the formation and sustenance of his administration.

“Oladunjoye was not just a party man, he was a stabilizer for this administration,” the governor stated. “From the very beginning, he worked tirelessly, alongside two other executive members, to ensure our government stood firm. His voice of courage stood out, and his contributions are indelible.”

He continued, “As a party man and aide, Oladunjoye never believed in half measures: he went out of his way to defend the programmes, policies, philosophy, and image of the Ogun State Government under our leadership. He was an effective and highly accomplished spokesman whose brilliance was never in doubt.”

Governor Abiodun described the late All Progressives Congress (APC) State Publicity Secretary as “resourceful, tenacious, and forthright,” noting that his communication skills elevated the APC’s reputation in the state.

“He was easily the best spokesman Ogun APC has ever produced. His doggedness, loyalty, and passion for the common man defined his politics and public service. Even as a local government chairman, his legacies are visible and enduring,” Abiodun added.

The governor highlighted Oladunjoye’s philanthropic nature and concern for the welfare of journalists, adding that his administration will not abandon the bereaved family.

“We will stand by the family he left behind. May God grant his soul eternal rest and give his loved ones the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss,” he prayed.

Also speaking at the prayer event, the APC State Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, described Oladunjoye’s death as a “tragic loss,” adding that they both weathered numerous political storms together. “He was a committed party man whose devotion to our cause was unwavering,” Sanusi remarked.

In his tribute, the State 2025 Amirul Hajj and National President of the Amalgamated Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Owners, Repairs and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN), Prince Adebayo Apelogun, called on all to live purposefully.

“Oladunjoye did his best and has returned to his Creator. We must all strive to do good because no one knows when their time will come,” Apelogun advised.

In an emotional tribute, the deceased’s daughter, Robiat Oladunjoye, praised her father’s values and character. “My dad was peaceful, upright, and hardworking. He taught us contentment and simplicity,” she said.

She added, “He was not just a father to us, but to many. He was a helper to the needy, a gift to humanity. Though he is gone, his memory will live with us forever.”
