The Olowu of Owu, Oba Prof. Saka Matemilola, has officially endorsed Tropic Reporters as one of the palace’s media outfits, while calling on journalists across the country to uphold ethical standards in their profession.

The monarch gave the charge on Friday at his Oke Ago Owu Palace in Abeokuta when he received the publisher of Tropic Reporters, Adejola Adeyemi Crown, who led a team on a courtesy visit.

Oba Matemilola emphasized that the strength of journalism lies in integrity and truth, stressing that the public depends on the media for credible and factual information.

“The media profession is built on trust, and it is essential that you maintain that trust by upholding ethical standards. Resist the temptation to compromise your integrity for any reason, as it is your integrity that sets you apart,” the Olowu said.

He further advised media practitioners to avoid unethical influences and ensure that facts are verified before publication, while commending Tropic Reporters for its innovative use of digital technology and commitment to truth.

“The public relies on you for accurate information, so ensure that you verify your facts before publishing. Tropic Reporters has shown commitment to fact-based reporting, and I commend the media organization for their innovative approach to news dissemination,” the monarch added.

In his response, the publisher of Tropic Reporters, Adejola Adeyemi Crown, said the visit was to demonstrate respect and solidarity with the Olowu and to further strengthen the relationship between the online news platform and the palace.

“We are here today to demonstrate our respect, admiration, and solidarity with your majesty, Oba Prof. Saka Matemilola. Our visit is a testament to the importance of our relationship and our commitment to supporting your reign,” Crown stated.

He also congratulated the monarch on his forthcoming 60th birthday and second coronation anniversary slated for August, noting that Tropic Reporters remains committed to promoting ethical journalism and cultural values.

By endorsing Tropic Reporters as a palace media outfit, Oba Matemilola affirmed the platform’s dedication to fact-based reporting and its role in preserving cultural heritage while contributing to the growth of the media industry.
