The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade I, at the monarch’s palace in Oyo town.

The revered cleric, known as “Daddy G.O.” by millions of his followers, was warmly received by the traditional ruler and his council of chiefs in a gesture symbolic of the convergence of spiritual and traditional leadership in Yorubaland.

The visit was first made public by Ajísebí Ọ̀yọ́ Radio through a Facebook post that included photographs capturing the moment Pastor Adeboye arrived at the palace and exchanged pleasantries with the Alaafin.

The post, written in Yoruba, read:

“Alaafin of Yoruba Land, Iku Baba Yeye gba Àlejò Daddy G.O. Baba Enoch A. Adeboye ti Ìjọ Redeemed Christian Church of God ni Ilu Oyo Alaafin l’oni,”
which translates to:
“The Alaafin of Yorubaland, Iku Baba Yeye, received Daddy G.O., Pastor Enoch A. Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, today in the city of Oyo.”

Although details of the discussions held during the visit were not disclosed, sources at the palace described the atmosphere as cordial and spiritually uplifting.

A palace source who witnessed the meeting told reporters:

“It was more than just a courtesy call. It was a meeting of two great institutions — the church and the throne. The Alaafin expressed deep respect for Pastor Adeboye and welcomed him as a father of the nation.”

The visit comes at a time when national conversations are intensifying around moral leadership, unity, and the role of spirituality in governance and social order.

Another palace aide added:

“Daddy G.O.’s presence brought an air of peace and reverence to the palace. His visit was not political but deeply symbolic — one of spiritual solidarity and respect for our cultural heritage.”
