Popular Nigerian dancer and hypeman, Iweh Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, is expected to appear before a London court on September 15, 2026, over an alleged assault offence.
Poco Lee is reportedly being held on remand in a United Kingdom prison ahead of the scheduled court appearance.
The development was confirmed on Monday by Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby, who is the founder of the community of Nigerians in the United Kingdom.
According to Kuti, Poco Lee is scheduled to appear before the Snaresbrook Crown Court at 10am on September 15 for what is expected to be a plea hearing.
“I can confirm that the reports are true. Poco Lee is currently on remand in a UK prison. His next court date is scheduled for the second week of September, when he is expected to have a plea hearing,” Kuti said.
He explained that a plea hearing would ordinarily involve the accused entering either a guilty or not-guilty plea.
Kuti said he intended to attend the proceedings as part of his efforts to support Nigerians facing legal challenges in the United Kingdom.
He, however, urged the public to allow the legal process to run its course, stressing that Poco Lee remained innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
The reports of Poco Lee’s alleged detention in the UK began circulating online on August 19. Initial reports did not disclose the identity of the alleged complainant or provide details about the circumstances surrounding the alleged offence.
There was also no immediate independent confirmation from the UK police or the court when the reports first emerged.
Meanwhile, an email sent to the Snaresbrook Crown Court seeking confirmation of the reported hearing had not received a response at the time of filing this report.
