In a sudden and unexpected move, all police officers assigned to protect the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda, as well as those securing the legislative complex, have been withdrawn with immediate effect.
The development has left both the Speaker and the Assembly premises without official security, raising concerns over their safety.
Confirming the withdrawal, the Speaker’s Special Adviser on Information, Mr. Victor Ganzallo, expressed deep concern over the situation.
“As we speak, all security has been withdrawn from the Speaker, and she is now on her own,” Ganzallo stated.
He further warned that the Speaker is now “vulnerable and open to attack,” stressing the urgency of addressing the security lapse.
The reason behind the withdrawal remains unclear, as neither the Lagos State Police Command nor the state government has issued an official statement regarding the matter.
