Islamic clerics have emphasised the need for humility and tolerance among leaders in every sphere of life, noting that such virtues remain essential ingredients for good governance and responsible leadership.

This was the focus of discussions at the annual Salako Family Ramadan Lecture and Tafsir held at the Ota Recreational Club Field, GRA Ota, organised by the Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele.

Delivering the lecture, the Missioner of Daru Soliheem Arabic and Islamic Center, Ota, Fadeelatu Sheikh Ibrahim Ajadi Yusuf, said leaders must cultivate humility and tolerance in their dealings with followers, adding that such attributes promote unity, fairness and stability in society.

The cleric, whose presentation was titled “Leadership and Followership in Islam: Lessons from the Life of Prophet Muhammad,” explained that the Prophet Muhammad remains the perfect model for Muslims occupying leadership positions.

He urged leaders at all levels to emulate the virtues demonstrated by the Prophet, noting that leadership in Islam is built on justice, compassion, accountability and service to humanity.

Sheikh Ajadi Yusuf also described Ramadan as a period of deep spiritual reflection and a time for believers to seek guidance from the teachings of the Qur’an, while praying that Almighty Allah grants Muslims the strength to complete the holy month in devotion and righteousness.

Speaking at the gathering, the Deputy Governor, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele, appreciated the clerics and Muslim faithful present at the Tafsir, noting that the programme has become a yearly tradition of the Salako family.

She called for unity and a shared sense of purpose among the various Awori clans, Yewaland, Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole, stressing that peaceful coexistence and cooperation remain essential for development.

In separate goodwill messages, dignitaries at the event, including the Chairman of the House of Assembly Service Commission, Hon Suraj Adekunbi, described the initiative of the Deputy Governor as commendable.

Adekunbi said the annual Ramadan gathering represents a godly approach to community development and responsible leadership, adding that such platforms strengthen moral values and social harmony within society.

Other speakers also noted that the programme has continued to provide an avenue for spiritual growth and unity among members of the Salako family, Muslims in Ota Awori and the wider community.

They prayed that the annual lecture would continue to grow in strength and impact in the years ahead.

The programme also featured special prayers for Nigeria, Ogun State, its leaders, Ota and the entire Aworiland.
