The remains of Oluwamayokun Lasisi, an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State Command, and her daughter, Adesewa, were on Friday buried in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, amid tears from family members, colleagues, and sympathisers.

The mother and child were reported missing on Sunday, November 2, 2025, after leaving their residence at Obasanjo Hilltop Estate, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta. Their disappearance later sparked widespread concern before investigations revealed that they were allegedly murdered.

Lasisi, aged 38, and her daughter were said to have travelled to meet Victor Fajemirokun, described as her boyfriend. Investigations alleged that Fajemirokun lured them to their deaths for ritual purposes with the aid of two herbalists. He reportedly fled to Ghana after the incident but was later arrested and extradited back to Nigeria.

Fajemirokun, 40, was paraded before journalists alongside the two alleged accomplices, Gboyega Daramola and Sunday James, at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo, where he reportedly explained his role in the killing of the deceased and her daughter.

The bodies of the victims were brought out of the morgue at the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, at about 10.02am in two white coffins. The burial service, which lasted about 45 minutes, was held at St John’s Anglican Church burial ground, Ita Olookan, Osogbo.

Emotions ran high as the coffins were lowered into the grave, with colleagues of the deceased and family members struggling to hold back tears. Officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps, led by the Osun State Sector Commander, Leye Adegboyega, joined the funeral convoy and burial rites.

In his exhortation, the Vicar of St John’s Anglican Church, Osogbo, Ven. Lekan Salami, spoke on the fleeting nature of human life and urged people to live with eternity in mind. Reading from 1 Thessalonians chapter 4, verses 13 to 18, he encouraged the congregation to remain steadfast in faith despite life’s uncertainties.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Tajudeen Dauda, a nephew to the husband of the deceased, described Lasisi as a woman of good character.

“The husband is my nephew. The deceased was a very good woman. We were together for a very long time and never heard anything bad about her, even when her husband travelled, until this unfortunate incident. Nobody prayed for what happened, but we cannot question God. May her soul rest in peace,” he said.
