The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a scathing rebuke to the All Progressives Congress (APC), cautioning them to desist from what it called a “disrespectful barrage of insults” targeted at the Presidency following the recent hosting of Governor Ademola Adeleke by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement signed and released on June 5, 2025, by the Osun PDP Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, the party described the APC’s criticisms as “unbecoming, disgraceful,” and reflective of “an appalling ignorance of democratic norms.”

“The vitriolic outbursts from APC stalwarts since President Tinubu welcomed Governor Adeleke at his Lagos residence show a total disregard for decorum and an alarming ignorance of democratic principles.” Hon. Bisi declared.

“Such conduct is beneath the proud Yoruba tradition of mutual respect and civility.” Hon. Bisi declared.

He affirmed that Governor Adeleke remains committed to peaceful governance and developmental dialogue across party lines.

“Governor Adeleke will continue to engage all democratic avenues, including discussions with the President where and when necessary, to secure meaningful development for the people of Osun who made him their Governor,” he added.

The PDP also highlighted a trend of disrespect from Osun APC figures, referencing similar verbal attacks during the visits of First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Rep. Ado Doguwa, and President Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, who were all reportedly subjected to public insults for acknowledging Governor Adeleke’s developmental achievements.

Drawing from historical precedence, Hon. Bisi reminded the APC of a time when former Osun Governor Baba Bisi Akande, despite being in a different political party, hosted former President Olusegun Obasanjo for three days in the state, engaging in collaborative governance for the people’s benefit.

“That’s how real governance works,” Hon. Bisi said. “Perhaps today’s APC chronic minnows should seek wisdom from respected leaders like Baba Bisi Akande on the true meaning of leadership and statesmanship.”

He urged the APC to abandon petty politics and focus instead on constructive engagement that benefits the citizens.

“The Presidency is not a platform for party squabbles but a national institution deserving of respect,” the PDP chairman stressed.

Hon. Bisi concluded by praising Governor Adeleke’s administration for staying focused on “peace, progress, and purposeful dialogue.”
