Three men have been arrested for alleged involvement in attempted cable vandalism in Ijagun area of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
The arrest was disclosed in a statement issued by the Commander of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, Dr. Soji Ganzallo, and made available to journalists through the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Corps, Assistant Commander Adegunwa Adegbuyi.
Ganzallo said operatives of the Special Squad, Ijebu Zonal Command, led by the Zonal Commander, DCC Yemi Odukoya, apprehended the suspects during a routine patrol in the early hours of Monday, March 2, 2026.
The officers reportedly sighted the trio riding on a motorcycle in a suspicious manner around 2.15am while heading towards Ijagun.
The suspects were identified as Wale Mosadoluwa, 31, Adeleje Okunuga, 30, and Anifowose Michael, 33.
According to the Corps Commander, preliminary interrogation revealed that one of the suspects, Mosadoluwa, allegedly confessed to engaging in cable theft since 2023.
He was said to have told officers that a friend currently in a correctional centre had earlier directed him to retrieve tools such as a cutter from a hidden location for the operation. They were, however, arrested before carrying out the act.
Items recovered from the suspects include a large cutter, pliers, a screwdriver and a motorcycle.
Ganzallo stated that the suspects, alongside the recovered exhibits, have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Igbeba Area Command, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
