President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Barrister Ismaeel Ahmed as the Executive Chairman of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi).
Ahmed, who previously served as Senior Special Assistant to former President Muhammadu Buhari on the National Social Investment Programme between 2018 and 2022, is expected to spearhead the operations of the presidential initiative aimed at easing the economic impact of fuel subsidy removal.
The PCNGi is one of Tinubu’s major palliative programmes designed to provide cheaper, more affordable, and environmentally friendly energy alternatives to Nigerians.
The 45-year-old Ahmed holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Abuja, graduating in 2005. He proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, Abuja, and was called to the bar in 2006.
In 2008, Ahmed earned a master’s degree in international relations, communications, and diplomacy from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, United States.
With his new appointment, Ahmed is expected to coordinate efforts that will accelerate the adoption of compressed natural gas as a viable energy option across the country.
