The Tanimu Turaki SAN led National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party on Tuesday held a closed door meeting with former President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja.
Turaki arrived at Jonathan’s office in Maitama alongside members of the party’s NWC and a few selected state chairmen at about 5.45 pm.
The delegation moved in a convoy of six SUV vehicles and was received privately by the former president.
Although details of the meeting were not immediately disclosed, party sources said discussions centred on the lingering crisis within the PDP, ongoing efforts to reposition the party ahead of future elections, and broader national issues.
A source familiar with the engagement said the visit was part of wider consultations by the party leadership.
“The leadership felt it was necessary to brief and consult former President Jonathan, given his role and experience within the party and national politics,” the source said.
Another party insider noted that the meeting was aimed at seeking guidance on internal reconciliation.
According to the source, “The PDP leadership is exploring all possible avenues to stabilise the party and restore unity.”
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement had been issued by the PDP or Jonathan’s media office, while party officials described the engagement as frank and constructive.
