Former employees of Wema Bank Plc are gearing up for a grand reunion in commemoration of the institution’s 80th anniversary, marking eight decades of the bank’s impact and legacy in Nigeria’s financial sector.
The gathering, organised by the Wema Ex-Colleagues Group, is scheduled to hold on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Jogor Event Centre in Ibadan. Tagged “Oluyole 2025”, the event carries the theme “Wema @80: Navigating the Intersection of Past, Present and Future — A Stakeholder-Centric Approach to Sustainability and Growth.”
Former Group Managing Director of Wema Bank, Mr. Demola Adebise, will deliver the keynote speech, drawing from his wealth of experience in the banking industry. He will be joined by a panel of guest discussants who will further dissect the theme.
Speaking on the planned event, Dr. Eddy Ademosu, the Group’s Brand Consultant, described it as a celebration of legacy and future possibilities. “This reunion is not just about nostalgia. It’s about reconnecting, honouring the institution that shaped our careers, and contributing thoughts on how Wema can continue to thrive sustainably,” Ademosu said.
He noted that the reunion will feature key dignitaries including the Chairman of Odu’a Group of Companies, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, who will serve as the Special Guest of Honour.
Also expected are High Chief Olu Okuboyejo and Alhaji S.T. Adepoju, who have been named Fathers of the Day.
