As the world marked the 2025 World Teachers’ Day, the Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation has commended the tireless efforts of teachers across Nigeria and the globe for their dedication to nurturing young minds and building a morally upright society.

The Foundation described teachers as “torchbearers of knowledge and moral guidance” whose roles go beyond classroom instruction to shaping character, discipline, and purpose in students.

In a goodwill message signed by its Global President, Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, the Foundation emphasized that teachers remain critical partners in the campaign against drug abuse, noting their influence in identifying early signs of substance use among students and providing timely intervention.

“Teachers are the foundation of every great nation. Through their dedication, sacrifice, and passion, they shape generations and nurture minds that become leaders and change-makers of tomorrow,” Wahab said.

He added that the Foundation, which has been at the forefront of advocating for a drug-free society, recognizes the significant impact teachers make in ensuring schools remain safe and healthy spaces for learning.

“Our campaign for a drug-free society cannot succeed without the active involvement of teachers. They interact with students daily, observe behavioral changes early, and instill values that discourage drug abuse,” Wahab explained.

He further called for stronger collaboration among parents, teachers, community leaders, and stakeholders to secure the future of young people through moral guidance and sound education.

“We must work together to raise a generation that thrives in sound health, sound mind, and sound morals. Teachers cannot do it alone; the entire society must support their mission,” he stated.

The Foundation also used the occasion to appreciate all educators for their unwavering commitment to human development and urged government and stakeholders to prioritize their welfare and capacity-building.

“May all teachers be rewarded for their invaluable service to humanity,” Wahab prayed.

The 2025 World Teachers’ Day is themed “Recasting Teaching as a Collaborating Profession”, celebrating the pivotal role of teachers as partners in education, mentorship, and social transformation.
