The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation and senator representing Ogun West, Solomon Adeola, fondly called Yayi, on Sunday marked his 56th birthday by donating 102 transformers to 435 Community Development Areas across the three senatorial districts of Ogun State.

Adeola, who also supported the energisation of the transformers, said the gesture was in line with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to improving electricity supply in rural and urban communities nationwide.

The transformers, with capacities of 500kVA/33, 500kVA/11, 300kVA/33 and 300kVA/11, were distributed based on the power needs of the benefiting areas.

Seventeen local government areas benefited from the initiative, including Yewa North, Ado Odo-Ota, Yewa South, Abeokuta North, Ifo, Obafemi Owode, Ewekoro, Sagamu, Ijebu Ode, Odogbolu, Ipokia, Ijebu North East, Ikenne, Ijebu East, Remo North, Abeokuta South and Ijebu North.

Chief Kayode, the senator’s Chief of Staff, said the initiative was a direct response to requests from residents.

“So today, the office and well-wishers in Abuja decided to honour him by celebrating him, even in his absence. As I speak, there are celebrations across the three senatorial districts by people who appreciate his impact on their lives through empowerment, infrastructure projects under the Renewed Hope Agenda, and other programmes.

“At least 50,000 people have directly benefited from his interventions, including training, equipment donations, scholarships for over 5,000 market women, and grants ranging from N50,000 to N75,000 to more than 40,000 traders — all without repayment obligations,” he said.

At the celebration in Abuja, the Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, Hon. Kayode Oladele, who chaired the occasion, described Yayi’s 56th birthday as “a celebration of impactful leadership, transformational representation, and a lifelong commitment to public service and philanthropy.”

He commended the senator’s role in shaping Nigeria’s fiscal priorities and ensuring fairness in federal allocations, adding that Adeola’s leadership had brought visible projects in human capital development, rural infrastructure, healthcare, education, and economic empowerment.

“This birthday is symbolic of the renewed hope and aspirations of Ogun West. His rise from humble beginnings to a national political figure has inspired countless young Nigerians. We celebrate not only his achievements but also his vision for a more prosperous Ogun West, a stronger Ogun State, and a united Nigeria,” Oladele added.
