The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 Ogun State election, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, on Friday visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun in Abeokuta to seek their support and blessings ahead of the governorship poll.

Adeola, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District, first met with Obasanjo at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, where he said the former president offered him advice on governance and the future of Ogun State.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting, the senator described the visit as successful, saying the former president shared his expectations for the development of the state.

“We came to seek his support, blessings and guidance, and he graciously gave us all three. He spoke passionately about the future of Ogun State and what must be done to keep the state on the right path. We have taken his advice to heart and will incorporate it into our plans and programmes,” Adeola said.

Responding, Obasanjo urged the APC governorship candidate to remain focused on his ambition while trusting God to direct his path.

The former president recalled that he had initially planned to study geology and build a career in the oil and gas sector but eventually found fulfilment through a military career, which he described as God’s purpose for his life.

“My prayer is that your desires and ambitions will align with God’s purpose for your life. Be focused on what you want to achieve and leave the rest to God and the people,” Obasanjo said.

Adeola later visited former Governor Amosun, whom he described as his political leader, saying the meeting was part of ongoing consultations within the ruling party.

“I am here to seek my leader’s understanding and support, which he has graciously granted. Today’s meeting has been fruitful, and we are united in our resolve to ensure victory for our party in 2027,” he said.

Amosun, in his remarks, called on members of the APC to remain united, stressing that good governance should remain the party’s priority.

“What people are looking for is good governance. We are one family, and there is no need to create divisions among ourselves,” the former governor said.

He thanked party members and supporters who accompanied Adeola on the visit and urged them to continue working together ahead of the 2027 election.
