Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has cautioned his supporters to desist from engaging in media attacks on political officeholders in Ogun State, stressing that such actions are neither authorised nor reflective of his political style.

Adeola, who represents Ogun West in the Senate, in a statement issued on Monday by his Media Adviser, Chief Kayode Odunaro, expressed concern over what he described as derogatory remarks and social media attacks targeted at some politicians by individuals or groups who claim to be defending him.

The Senator, who also leads the Ogun State Caucus in the National Assembly, firmly disassociated himself from such behaviour, stating that he did not mandate anyone or any group to attack public officials, either online or offline.

“I am greatly disturbed by the derogatory media attacks in some online media and on social platforms against a respected member of parliament by individuals or groups who claim to be supporting me. I have not authorised anyone to attack others on my behalf. Those actions are not in line with my style of politics or governance,” Adeola said.

He advised his supporters to promote unity and respect, adding that while he appreciates their support, abusive personal attacks on political leaders or anyone are unacceptable.

According to him, his focus remains on working cooperatively with Governor Dapo Abiodun, other National Assembly members from Ogun State, and the Ogun State House of Assembly to deliver development to the people, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Yayi also reiterated his belief in inclusive politics, saying no perceived opponent or party member should be seen as an enemy.

“I believe in politics of inclusion. We should not shut the door on anyone, as today’s critics may become tomorrow’s supporters. There’s no division among us that should warrant such personal attacks. Let me be clear, I have not ordered any media attack on anyone,” he added.
