The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, has arrested a 33-year-old aluminium fabricator, Fatai Olamilekan, over alleged vandalisation and attempted theft of iron fittings used to fence a Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) railway line at Odewale, Agbado, Ogun State.

Olamilekan was arrested at about 10pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, by operatives of the Agbado/Oke-Aro/Ibaragun Area Command during a joint routine patrol around the Odewale Railway Station and its environs. The operation was led by the Area Commander, ACC Akeem Olaiya.

The State Commander of the corps, Dr Soji Ganzallo, disclosed this in a statement made available by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Adegunwa Adegbuyi.

According to Ganzallo, the suspect was allegedly found with assorted iron fittings suspected to have been removed from the NRC railway fencing. The materials were reportedly packed in a sack for subsequent evacuation and sale.

During preliminary questioning, the suspect allegedly confessed to removing iron components from the railway fence. He reportedly said he started the operation at about 8pm and continued until between 9pm and 10pm before returning home to rest.

The suspect, according to the statement, intended to return later to evacuate the materials he had already gathered.

Ganzallo described the alleged vandalisation of railway infrastructure as a serious security concern, noting that the removal or destruction of railway fittings and protective fencing could expose railway facilities to further criminal activities and potentially endanger railway operations, passengers and members of the public.

He reiterated the corps’ commitment to protecting critical infrastructure and preventing vandalism, theft and other criminal activities across the state.

The State Commander also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities around railway lines and other public infrastructure to security agencies.

The suspect and recovered exhibits have since been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force, Odewale Divisional Headquarters, for further investigation and necessary legal action.

Ganzallo assured residents that the So-Safe Corps would continue to collaborate with the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies to safeguard critical infrastructure and protect lives and property across Ogun State.
