Kano State – A violent clash between rival gangs in Kabara and Magashi Quarters of Kano metropolis left one person dead and two others injured on Wednesday night.
The Kano State Police Command said the incident occurred at about 10:53 pm and caused panic among residents.
In a statement on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, identified the leaders of the confrontation as Usaini Noni of Kabara Quarters and Umar Tautau of Magashi Quarters.
“The fight terrorised residents and resulted in the death of Adam Badamasi, also known as ‘Choli’, while two others, Ahmed Basiru and Akilu Usman, sustained injuries,” the statement said.
Police and vigilante teams responded promptly, cordoning off the area and restoring order. Three suspects – Bazallahi Umar, 20; Abdullahi Umar, 20; and Abubakar Sani, 23 – were arrested, and weapons were recovered from the scene.
The injured victims were taken to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, where Adam Badamasi was pronounced dead.
Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, directed a discreet investigation to ensure that all perpetrators are brought to justice. Residents were urged to provide timely information to security agencies to help maintain peace in the area.
In a related development, the command also arrested a 25-year-old man, Ididiong James, for assaulting his mother and unlawfully possessing a firearm in Kano.
