The National Open University of Nigeria has announced that its 15th Convocation Ceremonies will hold on April 17 and 18, 2026, for the conferment of Bachelor’s degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas, Master’s, Doctorate and Honorary Doctorate degrees on deserving graduands.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Registrar of the university, Oladipo A. Ajayi, who said the ceremonies would take place both physically at the university’s headquarters in Abuja and simultaneously across state capital study centres nationwide.
According to the statement, the convocation activities will begin on Friday, April 17, with a pre-convocation lecture to be delivered by former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Kanu Godwin Agabi.
Ajayi said the lecture is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Conference Centre of the university headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, while participants across the country would join virtually through the institution’s livestream platform.
He added that the main convocation ceremony for the award of Bachelor’s degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas, Master’s, Doctorate and Honorary Doctorate degrees will take place on Saturday, April 18, at the Convocation Arena of the university.
The registrar explained that while first class graduands, award winners, PGD, Master’s and doctoral graduands would participate in the ceremony physically in Abuja, other first degree graduands would take part from their respective state capital study centres.
“Certificates shall be made available for collection immediately after the convocation ceremonies at the university headquarters in Abuja and at the respective state capital study centres,” Ajayi said.
He further informed graduands that academic gowns and hoods have been available for collection at their study centres since March 9, provided they present evidence of payment of the prescribed fees, a duly authenticated clearance form and a completed alumni membership form.
Ajayi urged graduands to commence their clearance processes without delay and comply strictly with all convocation guidelines, including the requirement to appear in full academic regalia.
“We congratulate all graduands and wish them every success in the forthcoming convocation ceremonies,” the registrar stated.
