IJEBU-ODE — The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) has prevented a major cattle rustling incident and recovered 20 cows in Ijagun town, a suburb of Ijebu-Ode.
According to a statement by the State Commander, (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, made available by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Adegunwa Adegbuyi, the Corps received an emergency alert at about 1:30am on March 17, 2026, from a resident of Ifesowapo Community, reporting a cattle rustling at a local ranch.
Responding swiftly, the State Commander directed the Ijebu Zonal Commander, DCC Yemi Odukoya, to mobilize a special squad team to the scene.
Upon arrival, the team discovered that the rustlers had assaulted the guard on duty and escaped with all 20 cows. The team immediately pursued the suspects, who reportedly abandoned the herd and fled into a nearby bush.
“The cattle were successfully recovered and returned to the farm owner, while the injured guard has been taken to a hospital for treatment,” Dr. Ganzallo said. He assured that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The State Commander emphasized the importance of collaboration among community stakeholders in tackling crime and commended residents for promptly providing reliable information.
He urged continued cooperation between the public and the Corps.
