The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, has urged residents of the state to remain vigilant and prioritise safety as Easter celebrations approach.

The corps said the festive period is often characterised by increased movement, social gatherings and religious activities, which require heightened alertness from the public.

In a statement signed by the Assistant Commander of Corps and Director of Information and Public Relations, Adegunwa Adegbuyi, the agency advised residents to plan their movements carefully and remain conscious of their surroundings at all times.

Adegbuyi stated, “Easter often comes with increased movement, social gatherings, and religious activities. Consequently, we urge residents to plan their movements carefully and remain alert at all times.”

He noted that many families would be travelling during the period and cautioned commuters to patronise only trusted transport services.

“Commuters should avoid boarding unknown or unsafe vehicles and ensure they share their travel details with trusted contacts before departure,” he added.

The corps also advised motorists to exercise patience on the roads, warning against overspeeding, dangerous overtaking and other forms of reckless driving as traffic volume is expected to rise.

The statement further warned residents to be cautious during late-hour celebrations, particularly in unfamiliar environments, urging them to avoid isolated routes and poorly lit areas at night.

According to the agency, households planning to travel should ensure their homes are properly secured and maintain communication with neighbours and local security contacts.

Adegbuyi also drew attention to expected large gatherings at religious centres and event venues, advising the public to remain observant and safeguard their personal belongings.

“In such settings, we urge residents to stay observant and promptly report any unusual behaviour to security agencies,” he said.

The corps disclosed that it had reinforced patrol operations, expanded surveillance coverage and deployed personnel to strategic locations across the state to ensure a peaceful celebration.

It added that collaboration with other security agencies had been strengthened to guarantee swift response to emergencies.

“Security remains a shared responsibility. We call on community leaders, youth groups and residents to support ongoing efforts by providing timely and useful information,” the statement added.

The corps, however, extended Easter greetings to residents, assuring them of its commitment to ensuring a safe and incident-free celebration across Ogun State.
