The Table Water and Beverages Producers Association of Nigeria, Egba Division, has called on government agencies and other stakeholders to prioritise access to safe and quality drinking water across the country.
The association made the call in an Easter message signed by its Chairman, Elder Iyinola Komolafe, to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which it described as a symbol of hope, renewal and restoration.
Komolafe said the season offered an opportunity for renewed commitment to actions that would improve water quality and accessibility for all citizens.
“The resurrection is not only a cornerstone of the Christian faith but also a powerful reminder of transformation and restoration. As Christ rose to bring new life to humanity, we are called upon to renew our commitment to sustaining life through access to safe and quality drinking water,” he said.
He noted that water remained essential to human health, dignity and development, warning that unsafe water continued to pose serious public health risks and contribute to preventable diseases.
“Unsafe water remains a major challenge affecting public health, contributing to preventable diseases and undermining the well-being of our people,” Komolafe added.
The chairman stated that ensuring access to clean water was both a moral and social responsibility for stakeholders in the sector, stressing the need to uphold safety standards and invest in sustainable infrastructure.
He urged collaboration among government, private sector players and communities to guarantee potable water supply, saying such efforts would reflect the essence of the Easter celebration.
“By improving water quality and access, we reflect the essence of Christ’s resurrection, bringing life, hope and restoration to every household,” he said.
The association also encouraged citizens to see the season as a call to be agents of positive change in promoting a healthier society through safe water practices.
