The Ogun State Executive Council has approved the renaming of the Sagamu–Iperu–Sapade Expressway as the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Expressway, in honour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The decision, according to the state government, followed an earlier announcement made during the commissioning of the Gateway International Airport and other major projects last Saturday.
The Council also approved the procurement of 50 electricity transformers under the Light Up Ogun Project, a move aimed at improving power supply across communities in the state.
In a related development, the former Aviation Village in Iperu has been renamed after the late Oba Adeleke Idowu Basibo in recognition of his contributions to the area.
To strengthen administrative efficiency, the Council approved the purchase of 20 Suzuki Grand Vitara and 12 Toyota Fortuner vehicles for use by public officials.
The Council further took decisions on traditional leadership across the state. It approved the declaration of the Olu of Odeda stool in Odeda Local Government Area.
It also ratified the appointment of Prince Adeyemi Ibikunle Opeaye as the Oludotun of Idotun in Ikenne Local Government Area, Chief Yaya Oriyomi as the Olu of Mowe, and Bashorun Peter Oluwole Ogunbayo as the Odemo of Ishara.
Speaking on the development, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, said the approvals were part of efforts to deepen infrastructure development and strengthen governance structures across the state.
He said, “These decisions reflect the government’s commitment to improving critical infrastructure, enhancing power supply, and ensuring effective local administration across Ogun State.”
