The Ogun State House of Assembly has confirmed nominees forwarded by Governor Dapo Abiodun for appointment into the State Independent Electoral Commission, following the conclusion of screening and legislative consideration.

The confirmation was carried out during plenary after the lawmakers adopted the report of the Committee of the Whole House, which had earlier examined the qualifications, credentials, and responses of the nominees during a screening exercise conducted the previous day.

The resolution, titled H.R. No.165/OG/2026 on the confirmation of nominees into the State Independent Electoral Commission, was presented by the House Leader, Hon. Yusuf Sheriff, and subsequently approved by members through a voice vote after deliberations.

Sheriff, while presenting the report, explained that the committee carefully reviewed the curriculum vitae and supporting documents of the nominees, noting that they were found suitable for appointment into the commission based on their performance during the screening exercise.

The motion for adoption of the report was moved by the House Leader and seconded by Hon. Lukman Adeleye, before receiving unanimous support from members of the House.

The House thereafter converted the resolution into a formal legislative decision, which was adopted and directed to be transmitted to the governor for further necessary action.

Those confirmed as members of the commission include Mr. Babatunde Adetona Osibodu, Mr. Tunji Akoni, Mr. Ayodele Bankole, Mrs. Gbemisola Onasanya, and Mrs. Oluwaremilekun Olaopa.
