Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has commended the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, and the Commissioners of Police in Ogun and Lagos states, Bode Ojajuni and Tijani Fatai, respectively, over the successes recorded by the joint security initiative, Operation Kosaye, in tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the two states.

The commendation was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, who said the governor described the operation as a bold, proactive and intelligence driven initiative that has significantly strengthened security along the Ogun and Lagos corridor.

According to the statement, the operation has recorded remarkable successes through coordinated security operations that saw operatives comb forests and criminal hideouts, neutralise armed bandits, arrest several criminal suspects and rescue kidnapped victims.

Abiodun said the achievements of Operation Kosaye had restored public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force and reinforced the commitment of security agencies to the protection of lives and property.

“The sustained offensive against criminal elements has effectively made Ogun and Lagos States increasingly hostile to kidnappers, bandits and other violent criminals who had attempted to exploit the shared border communities as safe havens,” the governor said.

He pledged that his administration would continue to provide logistics, operational support and technology needed to strengthen policing and enhance security operations across Ogun State.

According to him, sustained investment in security infrastructure, surveillance technology and operational mobility has continued to complement the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies in maintaining peace, law and order.

Abiodun also praised the officers and men participating in Operation Kosaye for their professionalism, courage and unwavering dedication to duty, saying their commitment had been instrumental to the successes already recorded.

He stressed that the operation had demonstrated the importance of collaboration, intelligence sharing and coordinated inter state action in tackling emerging security threats.

“Criminal elements can only be effectively defeated when security agencies work seamlessly across jurisdictional boundaries,” the governor said.

Abiodun urged other states of the federation to emulate the Ogun and Lagos security model by establishing similar collaborative frameworks capable of denying criminals the opportunity to exploit state boundaries.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies through sustained investment in logistics, technology and other operational resources, emphasising that the protection of lives and property remains a cardinal objective of his government.
