President Bola Tinubu has approved an 18-month extension of the tenures of the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, and the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nanna Nandap.
The approval was disclosed on Monday in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Under the extension, Nwakuche will remain in office until May 26, 2028, while Nandap’s tenure will run until June 30, 2028.
According to the statement, the decision followed a recommendation by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to address a succession gap in both services and give their respective boards sufficient time to appoint successors.
Tinubu commended the two service chiefs for the reforms recorded under their leadership and urged them to sustain and consolidate the achievements.
The statement quoted the President as charging both officials to build on the progress made in their respective agencies.
Nwakuche was nominated by Tinubu as Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service in December 2024, while the Senate confirmed his appointment in March 2025.
Nandap was nominated as Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service on February 21, 2024, and her appointment was confirmed by the Senate on March 1, 2024.
