The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Adeola, has described the death of Alhaji Shakiru Adeola Ayilara, popularly known as “Shako Alhaji”, as a great loss to Ogun State, Egbaland and his immediate family.
Adeola made the remarks in a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Chief Kayode Odunaro, on September 10, 2027, following the death of Ayilara at the age of 67.
The senator expressed shock and sadness over the demise of the community leader and politician, describing him as a notable figure whose reliability, experience and straightforward approach to issues of development made him an important personality in the state.
“I was shaken by the sudden demise of a notable community leader and astute politician. Indeed, his reliability, experience and straightforward approach to issues of development of Ogun State easily recommended him for a critical role in our drive for a new dawn in Ogun State and Nigeria,” Adeola stated.
Until his death, Ayilara was the Ogun State Chairman of the Association of Ram Sellers. He also served as an elected councillor of the then Abeokuta Local Government in 1987.
The deceased was also Chairman of Ike Oluwa Community Development Association, Imala, and Chairman of the Ogun State Bulk Purchasing Corporation.
Adeola said the passing of Ayilara was not only a loss to his immediate family and Egbaland but to the entire Ogun State.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul and for the immediate family to have the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
“May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus,” the senator prayed.
