Lawmakers in the Ogun State House of Assembly have commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for his proactive steps in addressing infrastructural deficits across constituencies, urging him to sustain and expand development efforts in various communities.

Leading the commendation during a plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, was Hon. Oluseun Adesanya, representing Ijebu-North East State Constituency.

He expressed gratitude to the governor for approving the construction of the Lugba-Eruwon road, an issue he had previously raised in the House.

However, he urged the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to closely monitor the project, particularly the quality of culverts and drainage systems, to prevent future flooding.

Hon. (Dr.) Babatunde Tella, representing Abeokuta North and serving as the Deputy Chief Whip, lauded the state government for renovating the Panseke pedestrian bridge.

He called on the Ministry of Works to replace the vandalized iron barricades beneath the bridge to enhance pedestrian safety.

“Ensuring the barricades are in place will not only safeguard lives but also maintain order in the area,” he noted, urging authorities to provide security around the bridge to prevent further vandalism.

Similarly, Hon. Olusegun Kaka Odunuga of Ijebu-North 2 appealed to the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure to provide an update on the Ago-Iwoye/Imodi-Imosan road project. Stressing the need for urgency, he said,

“The road network in this area requires immediate attention to ease movement and boost economic activities.”

On his part, the Minority Leader and representative of Odogbolu State Constituency, Hon. Lukman Adeleye, commended Governor Abiodun for approving the construction of a 3km Federal Government College road in Odogbolu.

He further appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Abiodun, and Senator Gbenga Daniel for their collective efforts in facilitating the Federal Government’s takeover of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED).

“This transition will bring enhanced infrastructure, broader academic opportunities, and improved funding for Nigeria’s first university of education,” he remarked.

In response to the lawmakers’ submissions, Speaker Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide praised the governor’s commitment to state development while urging residents to safeguard public infrastructure.

“It is our collective responsibility to protect government properties. If you see something, say something,” he advised.

He then directed the Ministry of Works to replace damaged barricades on bridges across the state and implement security measures to curb vandalism.

The Speaker also described the Federal Government’s takeover of TASUED as a landmark achievement with significant social, economic, and educational benefits for Ogun State and the nation at large.
